Irish wakes

At least the one's I've attended

Are more about food than drink

Perhaps

Like most of civilization

the Irish have mellowed

and the "common perception" (stereotype)

was once true

And the drinking went on

into the night

And sorrows

if not drowned

were temporarily immersed

in forgetful imbibement

So What!

Do Italian

      Black

and Spanish women scream too loud

at their husbands' coffin side

Do Asians sit too peacefully

to truly be felling sorrow

We all hurt in our own way

And more so as individuals

than races

Leave it alone

Don't analyze it

Be happy

that this time

it's not your pain
